THE BUZZ: While U.S. audiences tend to discover James Gray's films at home, he's considered a national treasure in France and loved by the film world in general for his slow-burn dramas and obsessive commitment to getting his projects made (perhaps the main reason he has made five films over a two-decade period). This film is closely tied with his family history, and there have been some standard has-he-clashed-with-Harvey-Weinstein tales from behind the scenes (namely, the editing room) which could be corroborated by the ultimate theatrical push (this weekend, it opens in a mere four theaters).
